Advisory

Winter Storm Warning until 12:00PM

Snow showers will continue atop the NM San Juan/Tusas and Sangre de Cristo Mountains through the morning tapering off this afternoon, bringing an additional several inches of snow. Meanwhile, a bitter cold Arctic airmass will continue its grip across eastern New Mexico with a mix of freezing drizzle and fog and intermittent light snow. This will allow for the potential for ice accretion on some roadways producing slippery and hazardous travel conditions throughout eastern New Mexico. Some improvement will occur this afternoon where the layer of low stratus burns off, mainly favoring the southeast plains.

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches mainly above 9,500 feet. West winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...San Juan/Tusas Mountains, southern Sangre de Cristos above 9500 feet and northern Sangre de Cristos above 9500 feet including Red River.

* WHEN...Until noon MST today.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery and snow packed road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTOS ABOVE 9500 FEET ... NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTOS ABOVE 9500 FEET/RED RIVER ... SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS

Instructions:
