9:30AM Sunday Winter Weather Warning

South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Chief Raymond Hayducka and Deputy Coordinator Bernard P. Hvozdovic Jr. are advising of significant winter weather Sunday evening into Monday morning.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our community from 3pm to 7am Monday. In total we expect to get 5 to 8 inches of snow from the storm.

We anticipate hazardous driving during the overnight hours. Motorist who must travel should do so prior to this evening.

It is anticipated that there will be closings and cancellations of events scheduled for this evening and possibly Monday.

We will provide updates on road closures and power outages throughout the storm.

FORECAST -
Storm Later Today On Track... High temps will warm near to just above 40 degrees today. So, as precipitation arrives later this afternoon it will begin as a rain / mix, before quickly changing to snow. For the first hour or two, pavements will be wet, but as snow becomes steadier-heavier and it is closer to sunset, all surfaces can begin to cover (after 4 or 5PM). In particular, the bulk of the accumulations will occur between 6 PM - 12 AM, with snowfall rates 1"/hr at times. is expected to see 5 - 8" of wet snow. Because of this, a few downed trees / power outages are possible.
