Winter Storm Warning until 06:00PM Sunday
A Pacific storm currently moving toward California will race across the Southwest during the day, then cross New Mexico Saturday night. A significant amount of Pacific moisture will get drawn north ahead of it, allowing rain and snow to develop Saturday and continue into Sunday. Snow will fall at higher elevations with significant accumulations possible above 9000 feet.
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, except up to 18 inches across the peaks of the Tusas Mountains. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph, producing areas of blowing snow.
* WHERE...San Juan Mountains.
* WHEN...From noon Saturday to 6 PM MST Sunday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible due to snow packed/icy roads and significantly reduced visibility in heavy and blowing snow.
