Felony Hit and Run on Baseline Street and Sterling Avenue

VICTIM: Adult male
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2:28 a.m., Highland deputies received a call of an injury collision involving a pedestrian in a wheel chair and a vehicle that left the scene of the accident at the intersection of Baseline Street and Sterling Avenue. Deputies from Highland Station and the Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to investigate. They determined the victim entered the roadway at the intersection of Baseline St. and Sterling Avenue and was struck by a vehicle travelling west on Baseline Street. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued to travel west on Baseline Street. The male victim, who has yet to be positively identified, was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, after an investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Desiree Every of Perris. She was arrested at the Highland Police Station and booked at Central Detention Center for felony hit and run. Bail was set at $50,000.
