The Major Accident Investigation Team investigates a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian collision

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Bear Valley Road / Third Avenue, Hesperia

PEDESTRIAN: 27-year-old male, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada (Deceased)

DRIVER #1: 65-year-old female, Hesperia resident
Driving a 2013 Ford Fiesta

DRIVER #2: Unknown driver, unknown make/model black sedan

DRIVER #3: Unknown driver, White Honda Civic

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at about 1:57 a.m., a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision occurred on Bear Valley Road east of Third Avenue, in the City of Hesperia. Witnesses reported a 27-year-old male from Las Vegas, Nevada was crossing Bear Valley Road when he was struck in the eastbound, number two lane. The pedestrian was struck by a 2013 Ford Fiesta, driven by a Hesperia woman.

After the pedestrian was struck by the Ford Fiesta, it was struck a second time by a black sedan similar to a Honda, and then it was struck a third time by a 4 door, white Honda Civic. The black sedan and the white Honda Civic were also traveling eastbound Bear Valley Road. Witnesses reported the black sedan and the white Honda Civic fled the scene after colliding with the already downed pedestrian.

Deputies from the Hesperia Police Department and Paramedics with the Hesperia Fire Department immediately responded to the scene and found the pedestrian deceased in the roadway. The exact cause of death will be determined by the coroner.

Investigators with the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating the collision. At this point, the investigation is ongoing. MAIT investigators are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the black sedan and the white Honda Civic and its drivers. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or might have additional information pertinent to the case is encouraged to contact the Hesperia Police Department.
