Police Outreach Efforts Grow
South Brunswick Police Active Shooter Awareness Preparedness (ASAP) program has instructed over 400 people in less than two weeks. “The response to the program is tremendous. Our hope is that every business, house of worship, and community group asks us to come present this training,” said Chief Raymond Hayducka. Township Manager Bernard P. Hvozdovic Jr who is the Deputy Office of Emergency Management Coordinator said, “This program can be universally applied to any facility or company. We designed it to expand our outreach efforts after seeing the training work so well with our Township employees. We want to continue to see the program grow and are encouraging all groups to reach out to us.”
On Friday, Officers went to the Hyundai Motor America Headquarters in the Township and trained all the employees on actions to take in an active shooter situation. The one-hour program is designed to increase community members’ situational awareness and ability to respond to an active shooter.
A community presentation for the ASAP program is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 7 pm at Crossroads North Middle School at 635 Georges Road, Monmouth Junction. “The training is in high demand based on the number of people already registered to attend,” said Chief Hayducka.
