High Wind Warning in effect for NW McDowell from 7am Sunday to 7am Monday.
...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SUNDAY TO 7 AM EST MONDAY... The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a High Wind Warning, which is in effect from 7 AM Sunday to 7 AM EST Monday. The High Wind Watch is no longer in effect. * LOCATIONS...Mountain portions of Caldwell, Burke, and McDowell Counties in western North Carolina, including the cities of Jonas Ridge, Ashford, Woodlawn, and Old Fort * HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds. * TIMING...Winds will turn sharply west then northwest behind a passing cold front early Sunday. Strong winds will increase through the day and persist into Sunday night. * WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
