Over the past 6 months, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit conducted a gang investigation into a Santa Paula criminal street gang for their involvement in crimes related to unlawful possession of firearms by convicted felons and their involvement with recent stolen vehicles. During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Gang Unit worked with Santa Paula Police Department and discovered this criminal street gang was also involved in several violent gang related crimes in the city of Santa Paula. On February 21, 2019, with the assistance of various specialized units from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Paula Police Department, Ventura Police Department, California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation, and California National Guard Counter Narcotics Task Force, nine search warrants were executed at the residences of nine different criminal street gang members. During the execution of the search warrants, detectives seized 6 unlawfully possessed firearms, ammunition, and gang indicia. Detectives located gang indicia and two unlawfully possessed firearms in the residence of convicted felon John Crow. Crow had recently discharged parole. Detectives located gang indicia and two unlawfully possessed firearms in the residence of convicted felon Richard Arellano. One of the firearms located was a modified short barrel shotgun. Arellano also recently discharged from parole. During the search warrant at Raymond Bolanos’ residence, detectives located a loaded firearm registered to Bolanos. Detectives discovered the firearm had been left unattended within the reach of a child that was inside the residence at the time. Gang indicia belonging to Bolanos was also located in the residence. While at the residence, detectives also contacted Larry Bolanos and located a firearm that was unlawfully possessed by Larry. John Crow was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for two charges of 29800(a) P.C. - Possession of a firearm by a felon, 186.22(a) P.C.- Street Terrorism, and other firearm related charges. Crow is currently being held on a $750,000 bail. Richard Arellano was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for two charges of 29800(a) P.C. - Possession of a firearm by a felon, 186.22(a) P.C.- Street Terrorism, and other firearm related charges. Arellano is currently being held on a $750,000 bail. Raymond Bolanos was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for 273a(a) P.C. – Child Endangerment and 186.22(a) P.C.- Street Terrorism. Bolanos is currently being held on a $100,000 bail. Larry Bolanos was booked into custody at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Jail for 27545 P.C. – Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm. Bolanos is out of custody on bail.
