Working through the night. City personnel will continue to monitor conditions and work through the night to maintain major roadways and intersections in Sedona as snow continues to fall. Major / emergency routes are the first priority, and neighborhood streets will not be cleared until the storm abates, perhaps not until late on Friday, Feb. 22.
The Sedona Police Department Operations Center will close at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. For travel information and restrictions, check the Arizona Department of Transportation website www.az511.gov or call their travel information line by dialing 5-1-1 on your phone, or SPD Dispatch at 928-282-3100.
Neighborhood street clearing expected Friday. Neighborhood streets will not be cleared until the storm abates, which is anticipated after midday tomorrow, Feb. 22. Please note that when plows clear neighborhood streets following a significant snowfall, it is unavoidable that snow will be pushed across driveway entrances. We appreciate your understanding and patience. If you are in a position to assist a neighbor who may need help clearing snow from their driveway entrance, please do so.
More snow expected overnight. At this writing, the National Weather Service projects an ADDITIONAL 8 inches of snow possible for tonight and another couple inches possible on Friday. Then, rain or snow showers are expected to follow into Saturday, which could freeze as temperatures drop, creating icy and black-ice conditions on roadways. We do expect colder temperatures on Friday.
Please continue to stay off the roads if at all possible. You may want to check on the welfare of vulnerable neighbors. Be safe!
