Wilmington Police make arrest in February 10 stabbing
A collaborative effort between the Wilmington Police Criminal Investigations Division and Street Crimes Unit, and the United States Marshals Task Force, has resulted in the apprehension of a suspect in connection with a stabbing that took place earlier this month.
At approximately 11:57 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, police responded to the 100 block of West 20th Street after receiving a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police located a 23-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police immediately began rendering aid and performing life-saving measures while awaiting paramedics. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, and was listed in critical but stable condition on the day of the incident.
Detectives believed the incident to be domestic in nature, and their investigation quickly developed 22-year-old Najeer Watson as a suspect. Watson was taken into custody without incident on February 15 in the 1100 block of Gilpin Avenue by the United States Marshals Task Force and the WPD Street Crimes Unit.
Police have arrested and charged Watson with the following:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Aggravated Menacing
Watson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $60,100 cash-only bail.
