Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of February 10 thru February 16, 2019

Dear Duarte Community;
                         
The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of February 10 thru February 16, 2019

 
February 10, 2019

  • Narcotics Arrest:  While conducting a patrol check in the 1400 block of Huntington Drive, deputies contacted an adult female who had set up camp behind a location.  Due to the female being warned in the past about loitering, she was detained.  During the detention, the female was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and arrested.      
 
February 11, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:  Deputies observed an adult female swerving in and out of traffic on a bicycle in the 1500 block of Duarte Road and conducted a traffic stop.  During the investigation, the female was found to be in possession of two syringes along with a small baggie of Methamphetamine. The female was arrested.  
  • Narcotics Arrest: Deputies from the Duarte Special Assignment Team were patrolling the area of Duarte Road and Highland Avenue, when then recognized an adult male whom they knew from previous contacts was on felony probation. During the contact, the male was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and was arrested. 
  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 1600 block of Cinco Robles Drive. Between 9:00 pm, January 10thand 5:00 am January 11th, persons unknown stole a 1998 Honda Civic from the street.  The vehicle was recovered in the 2500 block of Huntington Drive.       
 
February 12, 2019
  • Possession of a Firearm Arrest: Deputies were patrolling the 900 block of Newington Street, when they observed a driver slumped over in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle.  When the deputies illuminated the interior of the vehicle, they saw what appeared to be a handgun on the driver side floorboard. The firearm was recovered and found to be loaded with a round in the chamber.  After further investigation, it was determined the male is a documented gang member and was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was also found to be in possession of illegal narcotics and additionally charged.  
  •  Weapons/Narcotics Arrest: Deputies responded to 1050 Huntington Drive (Target) and contacted store security who was detaining an adult male for petty theft.  Upon arrival, deputies also detained a male driver in a vehicle.  During the investigation, the male inside the vehicle was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia used for ingesting heroin and was arrested.  The other male was arrested for shoplifting three electric tooth brushes.  The males were residents of Highland Park and Harbor City. 
  • An Attempt Strong Arm Robbery was reported in the area of Central Avenue and Highland Avenue.  Between December 12thand the 16th, a fourteen year old boy was approached by three male teenagers who demanded his money.  When the boy refused, he was punched in the face and an altercation between the victim and one of the suspects ensued.  During the altercation, the victim was able to run away.  The victim was afraid to report the incident at the time, and did not mention it until recently.
  •  A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 2400 block of Huntington Drive.  Between 5:50 pm on January 11thand 7:00 am on the 12th, a 2000 Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot. The vehicle was recovered later in the day in South El Monte. 
  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 2100 block of Broach Avenue.  Between 1:00 pm on January 11thand 1:00 pm on the 12th, a 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from the street. The vehicle was recovered in the city of Baldwin Park.
            
February 13, 2019
  • No significant activity.
 
February 14, 2019
  • Shoplifting Arrest:  Deputies responded to 1050 Huntington Drive (Target) regarding security detaining an adult female for petty theft.  After further investigation by responding deputies, the female was arrested for shoplifting five video games with an estimated value of $290.
  •  Weapon Related Arrest:  Deputies conducted a traffic stop of a bicyclist for a vehicle code infraction in the area of Buena Vista Street and Starhaven Street.  During the contact, the male was found to be in possession of a concealed knife and was arrested.     
February 15, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:  While patrolling the area of Brycedale and Huntington Drive, deputies contacted an adult female loitering behind a closed business and detained her pending a trespassing investigation.  During the investigation, the female was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and was arrested.   
  •  A Petty Theft was reported in the 3200 block of Markwood Street.  Sometime between 6:30 and 8:00 pm, persons unknown stole a tool box and a back pack from the victim’s unlocked vehicle.  The loss was estimated at approximately $300.
