Winter Storm Approaching Our Area and Lasting Into the Night

From the National Weather Service: A winter storm will impact the area beginning this morning and lasting through tonight.  Travel impacts are likely for much of the day. The heaviest snow will likely fall mid-late morning into this afternoon, with snow and/or mixed precipitation likely impacting the evening commute over much of the area.  All areas will likely see snow at the onset. A transition to a mix of sleet and freezing rain, and then finally rain, will occur through this afternoon and evening for most areas. Rain will then continue tonight and end early Thursday morning.  Uncertainty still exists in exactly how much snow will fall. However, confidence is high in an extended period of poor travel conditions today.

  • Remove all cars from the street once snow begins to fall.  Cars may be placed in public lots or parked on lawns for the duration of the storm.
  • Residents with driveways-please consider offering parking to neighbors who do not have off-street parking for the duration of the storm.
  • Keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice, but remember that by ordinance residents have until 12 HOURS AFTER THE STORM HAS SUBSIDED AND THERE HAS BEEN 12 HOURS OF DAYLIGHT.  Since this storm is projected to end sometime during the night, sidewalks are NOT REQUIRED to be cleared until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow evening.
Thank you for helping to keep public thoroughfares clear during times of inclement weather.

Instructions:

Heed weather warnings and updates. Remove all cars from the street once snow begins to cover the roadway.
