Coastal Flood Watch until 10:00AM Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 7 PM to 10 PM EST this evening. A Coastal Flood Watch has also been issued. This Coastal Flood Watch is in effect Wednesday morning.

* LOCATIONS...In South Carolina, Coastal Jasper. In Georgia, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty and Coastal McIntosh.

* TONIGHTS COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one half foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (9.5 to 9.9 feet Mean Lower Low Water). Saltwater inundation will impact some roads, including Highway 80 to Tybee Island.

* WEDNESDAY MORNING COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...One to two feet of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (10.0 to 10.4 feet Mean Lower Low Water). Numerous roads will be flooded, along with some properties. Highway 80 to Tybee Island will be impassable.

* TIMING...High tides will occur around 8:04 PM tonight and 8:29 AM Wednesday at Fort Pulaski. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL LIBERTY ... COASTAL BRYAN ... COASTAL JASPER ... COASTAL MCINTOSH ... COASTAL CHATHAM

Instructions:

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
