During a joint operation conducted in Santa Clarita Valley on February 11 and February 13, five firearms and ammunition were seized from residents prohibited by law from owning guns. 

Operation Dual Force is a coordinated effort between the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) Bureau of Firearms. Together, LASD and CA DOJ investigators work together to locate subjects, conduct field enforcement operations, and make arrests of those who have lost the right to possess firearms.  

The sweep on February 11 and February 13 in Santa Clarita Valley netted three arrests and the confiscation of one assault weapon, two rifles, one shotgun and one handgun.

Those prohibited from owning firearms can include people convicted of felonies, certain misdemeanors, subject to protective orders or judged by the courts to be severely mentally ill. 

The operation, which checked the compliance of 25 locations, was led by agents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) Firearms Bureau with detectives from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau (MCB) and assisted by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies.

Operation Dual Force strives to keep neighborhoods safe by removing illegally-possessed guns from communities. Field enforcement operations are conducted within the jurisdictions of all Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department patrol areas.
