Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted deputies of the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department in the pursuit and capture of a suspect with multiple felony warrants. The pursuit, which started in Elkhart County, crossed into Cass County at around 2:25pm on 2-17-19. The vehicle was pursued to the Edwardsburg area, where the suspect fled from the vehicle into the residence at 21615 Channel Parkway. The suspect barricaded himself inside the home and the suspect was believed to be armed. Negotiations were held with the suspect via cellphone and after approximately 50 minutes, the suspect exited the home and gave himself up. The investigation of the incident found that the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle during the pursuit. The incident remains under investigation.
