Officers respond to a 5150 suicidal subject that was threatening to jump off the Highland Springs I/10 overpass bridge.

On  02-15-2019, at approximately 1722 hours, Banning Police Officers were dispatched to a call of a possible suicidal subject threatening to jump off the Highland Springs I/10 overpass bridge. 

 As units arrived, officers went on to the tracks/ overpass bridge in attempts to talk down a 21 year old female from Hemet who was having a mental health crisis and was threatening to jump off the bridge.

Officers were able to calm the female and safely detain her. Officers transported the female to  the Banning Police Department for a 5150 evaluation.

Officers quick actions in stopping traffic and rapidly formulating a plan prevented the female from injuring herself or even taking her life. Beaumont Police also arrived and assisted officers with traffic control.  Refer to Banning PD report #19-325.
