On 2-16-19 at 11:31 pm a Janesville Police Department Officer initiated a pursuit after a vehicle failed to stop for an equipment violation. The vehicle traveled a short distance and pulled into a parking lot on Kennedy Rd. The suspect fled on foot from the vehicle. Officers were able to set up a perimeter to contain the suspect in the area. While searching the area, an officer spotted the suspect, who fled on foot across Milton Ave. The officers were able to catch up to the suspect after he tripped and fell in the north bound lanes of Milton Ave. The suspect continued to resist arrest, and after a taser was deployed, he was taken into custody.

A search was conducted of the vehicle and a loaded assault rifle along with a box of ammunition was located on the back seat.

The suspect was identified as Jordan Hawkins of the Madison, WI area. Hawkins was charged with Fleeing an Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Resisting and a Probation Hold. He is being held at the Rock County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
