INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation

LOCATION: 7955 Webster St., Highland

SUSPECT: Eric Malone, 29 years old, resident of Hesperia

VICTIM(S): #1- Michael Froelich, 37 years old, resident of San Bernardino - Deceased #2- 38-year-old male, resident of Rialto - Hospitalized

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 8:03 p.m. deputies were called to JJ’s Sports Bar in Highland for a reported stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found Michael Froelich outside the bar suffering from stab wounds and unresponsive. Deputies found a second victim, also suffering from stab wounds, inside the bar. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where Froelich was pronounced deceased at 9:29 p.m. The second victim remains hospitalized and his condition is unknown.

Homicide Detectives were requested to conduct the investigation. Investigators learned that Froelich, the second victim and Eric Malone were outside the bar when, for reasons unknown, Malone stabbed Froelich and the other victim and then left the area. Detectives and the Specialized Enforcement Detail contacted Malone at his home in Hesperia and arrested him without incident.

Eric Malone was booked at the High Desert Detention Center with bail set at $1,000,000. He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in San Bernardino Superior Court.
