Motorist robbed after stopping to assist what he believed was a disabled vehicle
Near MATTAWA, Wash. (014FEB2019) -- Grant County sheriff’s deputies are warning the public about a robbery which happened about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday south of Mattawa.
The victim was a motorist who stopped to assist what he believed was a disabled vehicle with two persons on Road S-Southwest near Road 25-Southwest. The victim was then confronted by a man wielding a knife who robbed him of his wallet which contained cash and credit cards. During the robbery, the victim was grabbed by the neck by one of the assailants.
The suspect vehicle is described as an older Ford Explorer with dents and scratches on the passenger side. The assailant with the knife was described as heavy-set, six feet tall, wearing a ski mask, black sweatshirt and black pants. The victim could not describe the other assailant.
To help reduce risk of harm, the public is encouraged to dial 9-1-1 if they witness a motorist who they believe needs assistance.
