Traffic collision on Twentynine Palms Highway and Utah Trail

INCIDENT: Twentynine Palms traffic collision
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Hwy and Utah Trail
SUMMARY: On Monday, February 12, 2019, at 11:15 am, Deputies responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Utah Trail. Deputies discovered a Chevy Suburban traveling southbound on Utah Trail was stopped at the intersection and attempted to cross Highway 62. The Suburban failed to yield for a trash truck traveling east on Highway 62. The trash truck broadsided the Suburban which came to rest on the southeast corner of the intersection. There were several people inside the Suburban who sustained minor to moderate injuries including a 4-year-old child who was flown to a medical center for treatment. The driver of the trash truck sustained minor injuries.
