8:30PM Monday - Winter Weather Advisory

The forecast calls for a mix of snow and ice for the morning commute. While the snow totals remain around 2 inches, the ice will create a big challenge. South Brunswick School District has already announced a 90-minute delayed opening.

Forecast -
Evening Update... The forecast for snow and a wintry mix to develop late overnight tonight remains on track. Snow continue to remain well to our south this evening. Start-time tonight remains difficult to pin down. Snow becomes much more likely 4 - 6 AM. It gets increasingly steady; however we'll go to ice pellets / sleet quickly.

Most of the predicted precipitation total is likely sleet and that is a significant amount, as more than a coating of sleet is dense, and difficult to remove. Then it's over to rain late morning / early afternoon. Some spots are around 32 during that point, so rain can freeze on contact and lead to ice. We expect to warm slightly later in the daytime and that will end the icing threat going into the late afternoon.
