NARRATIVE:

The Major Crimes Task Force consist of police officers who specialize in the field of gang enforcement.  The Major Crimes Task Force is made up of officers from the Pomona Police Department and augmented with officers from the California Highway Patrol’s Baldwin Park Area Office.  One of the primary missions of the Major Crimes Task Force is to proactively seek out and arrest gang members who engage in criminal activity, commit acts of violence against other rival gang members, and who use fear and intimidation to terrorize the citizens of Pomona.

On February 9, 2019, at approximately 6:39 PM, members of the Major Crimes Task Force were conducting undercover surveillance patrol when they observed a large group of gang members filming a rap video in the area of E. Ninth Street at S. Linden Street.  Officers observed one of the gang members, later identified as Suspect GONZALEZ, making movements that indicated he was in possession of a firearm.  When officers closed in on the group, Suspect GONZALEZ threw a firearm from his body just prior to police contact.  A search was conducted and a loaded black semi-automatic pistol with an illegal high capacity magazine was recovered a short distance from Suspect GONZALEZ.  It was later revealed that Suspect GONZALEZ was a prior felon on active parole.  Suspect GONZALEZ was subsequently arrested for the charges listed above and booked into the Pomona City jail.
