GTPD Community Bulletin: Things You May Have Missed at GTPD

Monday we sent a message to our residents about the Shops in Cops Detail.  GTPD received a $3960.00 grant for this innovative program that unites law enforcement agencies, beverage alcohol retailers and other community stakeholders in a collaborative effort to prevent illegal underage alcohol purchases and to prevent adults from buying alcohol for minors. This enforcement program promotes community collaboration, responsible retailing, and comprehensive enforcement.

Tuesday was SAFER INTERNET DAY
We reminded our residents that everyone has a role to play in creating a safer Internet!
From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns
The Gloucester Township Police Department LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) Officers, Ptl. Pearce and Ptl. Schultz, teach our 3rd grade students throughout the community Internet safety as part of the Student Improvement Program (SIP)

On Tuesday, We also remembered Trooper Bertram Zimmerman. February 5th marked the 15 year anniversary of Trooper Bertram Zimmerman’s, end of watch. Although gone, he will never be forgotten

Thursday was a busy day, Captain Barton attended The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy law enforcement event supporting the @LawAgainstDrugs Program. Vice President Pence  addressed the Nations drug crisis.

Next, we highlighted Sgt. Sean Grannan for our throwback Thursday. who began his career as a Police Officer in 1996

We ended Thursday Night with the second week of Citizens Police Academy. Residents had the opportunity to hear from Deputy Chief Dave Harkins, the Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Management, Ray Evans and Crime Scene Detective Pat Cunane.
They learned about our police department, an overview of different law enforcement agencies, learned about preparing for natural disasters  and were introduced to the different jobs of a CSI and how it’s not always as easy as TV makes it seem.
