The South Carolina State Forestry Commission along with the National Weather Service has advised that fire danger today is high due to the forecasted low humidity and gusty winds causing fires to be hard to control. If you decide to burn the South Carolina State Precautions Law requires anyone not within city or town limits to obtain a burn permit from the South Carolina Forestry Commission before lighting the fire. Without prior approval from The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, The State Precautions Law only allows for you to burn vegetative debris. The law also requires that you have an adequate means for controlling the fire and to not leave the fire unattended until it is entirely safe to do so.
