Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 02/08/2019 at approximately 2226 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Sunset Blvd near S Beechwood St. in Porter Township, Cass County Michigan. Travis lee Schlabach, 39 yr old, Resident of Elkhart, IN, was driving southbound on Sunset Blvd when the he lost control of his vehicle causing it to run off the roadway and crash into a tree. Travis succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash and a seat belt was not worn. This crash remains under investigation.
