Update: Homicide investigation; 5900 blk E. 6th Avenue; Victims identified

Update:
The adult male victim has been identified as Danny Smalley (61-years-old). Next of kin procedures have been completed.
 
Detectives have determined this to be a homicide-suicide investigation where the adult male shot the adult female and then shot himself.
 
Also, correction made below to the adult female victim’s age. She was 46-years-old.
 
Update 2/4/19:
The adult female victim has died as a result of her injury.
 
She’s been identified as Brenda Smalley (46-years-old). Next of kin procedures have been completed.
 
The identity of the adult male victim isn’t being released at this time as next of kin procedures continue.
 
Detectives continue to investigate who is responsible for the shooting.
 
Original:
On 2/3/19 around 2 a.m., Dispatch received a report of shots fired from inside a residence in the 5900 block of East 6th Avenue.
 
The preliminary investigation found that four adult family members were inside a residence when gun shots were heard. An adult male found an adult male and an adult female inside a bathroom. They were shot in the upper body. The male victim was deceased and the female victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
 
This is an isolated incident. Detectives are not looking for any suspects at this time and are questioning the family members.
 
The deceased victim’s identity isn’t being released at this time pending next of kin procedures.
 
It’s believed that this is a domestic violence related incident.
