Second Rebuild by Design workshop for Harborside Park on Thursday, 7 pm

The second Rebuild by Design workshop to present design concepts for Harborside Park, which will be incorporated into the project’s flood protection, will take place on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00 pm at the Elysian Charter School (1460 Garden Street).

Three concept plans for Harborside Park, based on community input, were presented at the first workshop meeting on Monday.  All three proposed designs (Bloom, Meadow, Ridge) incorporate above ground flood infrastructure to resist storm surge from the Hudson River as a part of the $230 Million Rebuild by Design project.

NOTE: The meeting materials for Thursday were presented at Monday's Rebuild by Design workshop.

A community design workshop is also scheduled for February 13 at 7:00 pm at Elysian Charter School (1460 Garden Street) to present proposals for North Design Zone 3 (Washington Street/Alleyway region).

ABOUT REBUILD BY DESIGN

The Rebuild by Design - Hudson River Project is a comprehensive urban floodwater management strategy to reduce the flood risk from storm surge and rainfall flood events to flood prone areas within the Project Area, which comprises the entire City of Hoboken, and adjacent areas of Weehawken and Jersey City. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $230 million to the State of New Jersey for the Project, which includes the design and environmental impact analysis of the overall comprehensive master plan of the entire project (including the Resist and Delay, Store, Discharge components) and funding for the construction of the Resist components (coastal storm surge projects).
