Winter Storm Warning until 06:00AM Thursday
An upper level disturbance will combine with a strong surface cold front to bring snow, gusty winds and much colder air to parts of northern and western New Mexico tonight into Wednesday night. Blowing snow will create drifts and poor visibility at times, especially in the higher terrain. The combination of snow, blowing snow, and much colder temperatures will result in difficult travel conditions by Wednesday morning. Wind chills will drop well below zero Wednesday night.
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches below 7500 feet and 6 to 12 inches above 7500 feet expected. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...San Juan Mountains.
* WHEN...Until 6 AM MST Thursday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
