With Niles Canyon expected to be closed for the next 3-4 hours, we’d like to recommend that both commuters and residents begin to prepare for the evening commute. We expect I680 will experience heavy back-ups and commuters will cut through our City to reach the East Bay. Commuters coming from the Dumbarton Bridge are encouraged to travel north I880 to 238/580 in Castro Valley to avoid Mission Blvd and heavy delays in Fremont.
Residents along the I680 cooridor may experience high traffic in neighborhoods during peak commute hours.
We will keep everyone updated of the closure.
