Automotive Repair Shop Owner Arrested for Insurance Fraud
Suffolk County Police arrested the owner of an Amityville automotive repair shop for submitting fraudulent insurance claims for repairs on a vehicle.
Andrew Nuss, the owner of Village Line Auto Body, located at 123 Albany Ave., submitted fraudulent billing documentation for repairs on a vehicle between December 12, 2018 and January 23, 2019.
Detectives from the Property/Auto Crime Unit conducted a joint investigation with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, New York State Department of Financial Services Insurance Fraud Unit, Allstate, MetLife Auto and Home and arrested Nuss at Village Line Auto Body on February 1.
Nuss, 28, of Lindenhurst, was charged with Insurance Fraud 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Falsifying Business Records 2nd Degree. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip today.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
