Homicide Detectives arrest a suspect for the murder of Bryon Calvert 
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, January 30, 2019 7:15 p.m.
INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 4700 block of Gilliespie Rd., Wonder Valley
SUSPECT: Bobby Collins, 42 years old, resident of Wonder Valley
VICTIM: Bryon Calvert, 57 years old, resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 7:15 p.m. a family member of Bryon Calvert’s called to report him as a missing person. Calvert left the Twentynine Palms home about 10:30 a.m. to run an errand and go to a friend’s home. When he didn’t make it to the friend’s home, or return home, his family became concerned. About 9:00 p.m., another family member reported seeing Calvert’s vehicle pass him on the I-10 at a high rate of speed, heading toward Palm Springs. Deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers located the vehicle at the I-10/Dylan near the Loves Truck Stop. Deputies detained the driver, Bobby Collins.
Deputies believed Bryon Calvert’s disappearance was suspicious and contacted Specialized Detectives from the Homicide Detail to conduct the investigation. Detectives learned Calvert had recently started a relationship with Collins. Detectives served a search warrant at Collins’ home in Wonder Valley and discovered Calvert deceased inside the home.
Bobby Collins was arrested for Murder and booked at West Valley Detention Center. He is being held without bail and is scheduled for arraignment on February 4, 2019, in Morongo Basin Superior Court.
