Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was found at a Shirley beach.  

Seventh Precinct and Marine Bureau officers responded to the outer beach at Smith Point County Park on January 31 at approximately 9:50 a.m. after a Suffolk County Department of Parks employee found the body of a woman on the beach. The woman’s 2006 Chevrolet, which appeared to be stuck in the sand, was found approximately ¼ mile away from the woman’s body.

The woman, Christine Brown, 67, of Bellport, was transported to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. The death does not appear to be criminal in nature.
