A 15 year old high school student is arrested after bringing a gun to school

INCIDENT: PC 626.9(b)- Possession of a Firearm on a School Campus
LOCATION: Redlands East Valley High School, 31000 E. Colton Ave. Redlands
SUSPECT: 15-year-old male
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department arrested a 15-year-old male Redlands East Valley High School student who was in possession of a firearm and ammunition at a school campus. The suspect brought his step-father's gun to campus in his backpack and showed it to a friend. The student reported the suspect to school officials who immediately notified the school resource officer. The deputy detained the suspect on campus and seized the firearm and a magazine with ammunition.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department assumed the investigation. A search warrant was served at the suspect's residence and recovered another firearm from the home which belonged to the suspect's step-father. The suspect was arrested for a felony, PC 626.9(b)- Possession of a Firearm on a School Campus and he was booked at the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no evidence of an immediate threat on campus.
