Media Release regarding Motor Vehicle Crash 221N (click on blue link) 
In the early morning hours of Wednesday January 30, 2019 two Marion Police Officers, while commuting to training in Avery County, were involved in a motor vehicle crash on 221 North in the intersection at Baxter Healthcare. The Marion Police vehicle and another vehicle collided in the middle of the intersection resulting in the death of the second motorist. The two officers were transported to Mission Hospital McDowell and were treated and released for injuries they sustained in the crash. The name of the decedent occupying the second vehicle is not being released. This crash is being investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. No further information is being released at this time.
