Advisory

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7PM THIS EVENING FOR RUTHERFORD MOUNTAINS

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC
1103 AM EST Tue Jan 29 2019

...ARCTIC FRONT BRINGING SNOW THEN BITTER WIND CHILLS TO THE
SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS...

.A strong cold front is crossing the region today with moisture
and associated snowfall across the mountains. The snowfall will
start to gradually taper off from the west this afternoon,
however, temperatures will start to fall rapidly behind the cold
front. Given the snow and moisture on the ground, and the
plummeting temperatures, icy roadway conditions may develop very
quickly this afternoon. Windy conditions will then develop in the
wake of the front, with bitter wind chills setting up Tuesday
night and continuing, and indeed worsening, through Wednesday
night.
