Vehicle pursuit from Moses Lake to Warden this morning was due to driver suffering a medical emergency
MOSES LAKE, Wash. (28JAN2019) – A 65-year-old Moses Lake man sustained minor injuries this morning after crashing near Warden his car while suffering a medical emergency.
Around 11:10 a.m. a Grant County Sheriff’s Office Deputy spotted a white SUV going the wrong way on State Route 17 near Yonezawa Boulevard. The deputy tried to stop the SUV but the SUV continued driving south on SR 17. Washington State Patrol troopers took over the pursuit just south of Moses Lake with Grant County deputies following.
The white SUV was driving from shoulder to shoulder and went into the ditch on several occasions. At one point spike strips were deployed in an attempt to slow the SUV which was traveling at speeds of up to 50 miles-per-hour. The SUV eventually went off the road near mile post 39 just south of State Route 170 East (Warden) crashing into a thick brush pile. Luckily no other vehicles were hit or damaged.
The 65-year-old driver of the SUV was suffering a diabetic emergency. He was transported to Samaritan Hospital for unspecified minor injuries. The entire incident lasted approximately 14 miles. No charges are expected.
