Wind Advisory until 12:00PM Monday
Very strong winds will develop behind an arctic front tonight and continue into Monday morning. Areas that experience light snow or flurries tonight will see reduced visibility in blowing snow at times during this period of strong winds. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to noon CST Monday.
* TIMING...Strong winds will push east between midnight and 6 am tonight, and persist through midday Monday.
* WINDS...Northwest winds will gust into the 40 to 50 mph range at times.
* IMPACTS...With light snow or flurries possible as winds increase, patchy blowing and drifting snow is possible. Strong winds will lead to potentially hazardous crosswinds for high profile and lightweight vehicles. Winds will also blow around loose objects.
* AFFECTED AREAS: MINER ... TURNER ... LINCOLN ... BUENA VISTA ... MINNEHAHA ... HANSON ... DAVISON ... SANBORN ... MCCOOK ... BEADLE ... SIOUX
Instructions:
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.
