Wind Chill Watch until 12:00PM Wednesday
While light snow will be possible this morning, the main concern will be a heavier and more persistent snow that should develop this afternoon and evening in parts of east central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota. By late evening into the overnight hours, a strong arctic front will usher in very strong winds. Flurries and light snow will be possible for a few hours along and behind this arctic front and the visibility could be very low at times, especially in areas north and east of Sioux Falls. A second push of very cold air will move into the region Tuesday, leading to an extended period of life-threatening wind chills in some areas through midweek.
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills possible. Wind chills as low as 50 below zero possible.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa.
* WHEN...From Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
* AFFECTED AREAS: MINER ... TURNER ... LINCOLN ... BUENA VISTA ... MINNEHAHA ... HANSON ... DAVISON ... SANBORN ... MCCOOK ... BEADLE ... SIOUX
