Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 12:00PM Monday

While light to moderate snow and possibly a little mixed precipitation will be possible from Sunday morning through the evening, the main concern will be the heavier and more persistent snow that should develop in the evening in southwest MN. By late evening into the overnight hours very strong winds will develop and usher in a strong arctic front. Flurries and light snow will be possible for a few hours along and behind this arctic front and the visibility could be very low at times.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 inches or less is expected. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph will create low visibilities.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast South Dakota, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.

* WHEN...From midnight Sunday night to noon CST Monday. The worst conditions will likely be from about 2 am to 6 am CST.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: JACKSON ... LINCOLN ... BUENA VISTA ... MOODY ... HANSON ... CLAY ... BEADLE ... MINER ... TURNER ... O'BRIEN ... OSCEOLA ... MINNEHAHA ... ROCK ... DAVISON ... DICKINSON ... NOBLES ... SANBORN ... LYON ... MCCOOK ... LAKE ... SIOUX
