Advisory

Details on Indigo Run area burglaries. Three vehicles stolen, one was recovered. At least four subjects were involved

At approximately 4:00 a.m., a resident of Avalon Villas (near Indigo Run Plantation) on Hilton Head Island reported that she was looking out of a window and observed a Mercedes and a sport utility vehicle pull up to her vehicle—Honda Accord—which was parked in her garage. The resident reported that after the two vehicles pulled up, she observed her Honda drive off. Descriptions of the three vehicles—white Honda Accord, gray Dodge Durango and silver Mercedes—were provided to responding Sheriff's Office deputies.

A short time later, deputies observed the stolen Honda Accord and the Dodge Durango being driven on Bluffton Parkway. Deputies then activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicles. The vehicles sped up and deputies directed their focus on stopping the stolen Honda Accord. Deputies lost contact with the Honda Accord on Alljoy Road, but were able to locate it—unoccupied—minutes later at the Alljoy Boat Landing.

While deputies were searching for the subject or subjects that fled from the stolen Honda at Alljoy Boat Landing, the owner of the gray Dodge Durango—also a resident of Avalon Villas—discovered it was missing and reported it stolen. Bluffton police officers, who were made aware of the stolen vehicles, observed the stolen Dodge Durango being driven toward Jasper County and attempted a traffic stop. The Dodge Durango sped up and Bluffton police officers terminated their pursuit for safety concerns. Bluffton police lost contact with the stolen Dodge Durango, as it sped into Jasper County.

Sheriff's Office deputies continued to receive reports from residents at Avalon Villas throughout the morning. At least ten residents reported that subjects had entered into their enclosed garages and either stole or attempted to steal property. One of the residents reported that her silver Mercedes sedan was stolen from her garage.

As of the time of this advisory, the gray Dodge Durango and the silver Mercedes have not been located. Deputies collected video surveillance footage from Avalon Villas, which shows four subjects entering one of the garages. Three of the subjects' faces were covered, while one was uncovered. A screen shot of the subject who did not cover his face was taken from the surveillance footage and is attached to this advisory. Also attached to this advisory are photographs of the stolen 2003 gray Dodge Durango with South Carolina registration 1668JV and the 2005 silver Mercedes S-500 sedan with South Carolina registration EIZ136.

Anyone knowing the identity of the male subject, his accomplices or the locations of the stolen Dodge Durango and Silver Mercedes is encouraged to call Staff Sergeant Calendine at 843-255-3427 or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111 if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward.
