UNIT:  MAJOR CRIMES TASK FORCE

NARRATIVE:

During this past week, the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force continued to take a no tolerance approach to illegal prostitution activities along the Holt Corridor.  The crime of 653.22(a) of the California Penal Code, makes it illegal to loiter in a public place for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.  The Major Crimes Task Force frequently deploys Vice Officers to target individuals engaging in this type of illegal behavior.  As a result of the past week's deployment, several arrests were made.  Loitering with intent to commit prostitution in California is a misdemeanor.  If someone is convicted of this crime they could possibly face being imprisoned in the county jail for up to six months, be fined up to one thousand dollars, or both.
