An Amarillo man has been arrested after firing a gun in east Amarillo early Friday morning.

On January 18th at 12:24 AM, the Amarillo Emergency Communication Center received several phone calls of multiple gunshots being heard in the 1700 block of South Roosevelt Street. Officers located the residence where the shots had been fired and made contact with multiple people at that location. The male who had fired the shots was still armed with the weapon and refused to exit the residence. At 1:59 AM, the APD Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was called to the scene to assist. At 5:38 AM, 55 year old Roger Don Taylor came out of the residence and was taken into custody. He was charged with Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Terroristic Threat Against a Family Member, a Class A Misdemeanor. Taylor was booked into the Potter County Detention Center. There were no reported injuries.
