Advisory

20-year old Aaron Fields apprehended in the act of a residential burglary in Burton yesterday.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. yesterday, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary that was in progress on Harding Street in Burton. When deputies arrived they met with the resident, who advised that a male subject had forcibly entered his/her home through a window located in the back of the residence. The resident advised that he/she fled the home and called 9-1-1. The resident further advised that the subject may still be inside his/her home.

Deputies surrounded the victim's residence and observed a male subject inside. Deputies approached the residence and called out for the subject to surrender. The subject complied with the instructions of deputies and was apprehended without incident.

The subject, identified as 20-year-old Aaron Fields of Burton, was searched and found to be in possession of multiple items belonging to the resident and his/her family inside of a backpack he was carrying. Fields was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated.

As of this afternoon, Aaron Fields had yet to post a $7,500 bond that was set for the Burglary 2nd Degree offense and remained incarcerated in the detention center. We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents and guests "if you see something, say something" in the reporting of suspicious activity to 9-1-1.

We appreciate your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
