Areas of fog, including some dense fog, will continue to develop across the Piedmont of the Carolinas this morning. Visibilities may drop to less than a half mile across the area. Additionally, below-freezing temperatures will lead to patchy freezing fog as well, which may lead to isolated black ice developing on areas roadways, especially bridges and overpasses. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Freezing Fog Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM EST this morning.

* LOCATIONS...Portions of the Piedmont of the Carolinas, especially the I-77 corridor, to the Lakelands and along portions of the Upper Savannah Valley.

* TEMPERATURES...Lows around 30.

* IMPACTS...Slippery spots on roadways and reduced visibilities will make driving potentially hazardous.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GREENWOOD ... ANDERSON ... ABBEVILLE ... LAURENS ... GREATER PICKENS ... GASTON ... YORK ... CABARRUS ... CHEROKEE ... GREATER OCONEE ... MECKLENBURG ... UNION ... CHESTER ... UNION

A Freezing Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
