Homicide detectives seek any information regarding the human skeletal remains found in the desert area.

DATE/TIME: Friday, January 11, 2019/2:14 p.m.

INCIDENT: Death Investigation/Skeletal remains located

LOCATION: Desert area near West Main Street/Mockingbird Street in Lenwood

VICTIM: Jane Doe


SUMMARY:
On Friday, January 11, 2019, at approximately 2:14 pm, a deputy from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of West Main Street and Mockingbird Street in Lenwood to meet with a land surveyor who had located what he believed to be human skeletal remains. Upon arrival, the reporting party took the deputy to the desert area near the location. The remains were confirmed to be human.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Due to lighting conditions the scene was secured for the night.

On Saturday, January 12th, homicide detectives, coroner investigators, and a Forensic Anthropologist excavated the area and retrieved additional skeletal remains.

Additional examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death and identity of the decedent.
