INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Village Drive / Eto Camino Road

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, January 10, 2019 at approximately 5:53 PM, Deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision north of the intersection of Village Drive and Eto Camino Road in the city of Victorville. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a white Kia Optima was driving west on Eto Camino Road and a silver GMC Yukon was driving north on Village Drive. The driver of the Kia crossed the northbound lanes of Village Drive in the path of the oncoming GMC. The GMC collided with the driver side of the Kia, causing major damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the Kia suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the GMC suffered major injuries and was transported to a trauma center. One passenger in the GMC was transported to a trauma center, and the other two passengers in the GMC were uninjured.

Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. Village Drive, north of Eto Camino Road and south of Puesta Del Sol Drive, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
