Sheriff's Office investigators recently received information that 37-year-old Michael "Big Mike" Brown, who was out on bond for a June 2018 arrest for heroin and crack cocaine charges, was again selling heroin. Following up on that information, investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for Brown's Cotton Hope apartment on Hilton Head Island and warrants for his arrest for Sale and Distribution of Heroin and Sale and Distribution of Heroin within 1/2 Mile of a Park. 

Yesterday afternoon, Sheriff's Office investigators located Michael Brown at his Cotton Hope apartment and arrested him for the two active warrants. Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. Investigators then served the search warrant on Brown's apartment and recovered distribution weights of heroin and powder cocaine, as well as a small amount of marijuana. Investigators also found pills that were not readily identifiable inside Brown's apartment. The pills will be subjected to analysis at the Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory.  

For the heroin, cocaine and marijuana found inside his apartment, Brown was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin within 1/2 Mile of a Park, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine within 1/2 Mile of a Park and Simple Possession of Marijuana.

As of the time of this advisory, Michael Brown remained incarcerated at the Beaufort County Detention Center and his bond amount was not yet available. Depending on the results of the analysis of the pills found inside his apartment, Brown could face additional charges.
