DUI Driver Arrested After Collision

In the early morning hours of January 9th (1:34 a.m.), Simi Valley Police Officers responded to a report of a vehicle which had crashed into a house. On arrival, the officers discovered an SUV had collided with a traffic light and smashed through the backyard wall of a house on Diamond Court.

The collision investigation showed that the SUV was traveling east on Cochran Street when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. The driver, 23 year-old Matthew Greenslade, a Simi Valley resident, was evaluated for being under the influence of alcohol. A breath test on the scene of the accident revealed Greenslade had a blood alcohol content of .20 percent, about two and a half times the legal limit. Greenslade was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind everyone that drinking and driving do not mix. If you are going to drink, ensure that you have a sober driver to take you home. Or, utilize a taxi or ridesharing service.
