Voluntary Evacuation Notice for residents living at Westwood Chateau Apartments in Marion. Click link for info.

McDowell County Emergency Management was notified by the Westwood Chateau HOA of safety concerns related to a possible sinkhole formation under the apartment complex.  A private geotechnical engineer has performed various underground tests and determined that the residents living in this complex need to be immediately relocated due to the potential of sinkhole formation.  The engineer deemed the complex as a high threat to the safety of the residents.  Local and state officials are currently on scene assisting citizens who are affected by this incident. 

A shelter has been established at First Baptist Church in Marion, located at 99 North Main Street.
