Shot fired but no one injured; Marion man taken into custody
Deputy Jeffrey Hill of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Joshua Adam Taylor, 37, address listed as Annie Drive in Marion, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, breaking and entering a motor vehicle and injury to personal property.
At 11:24 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, Hill and other deputies responded to Samir’s on Sugar Hill Road in reference to a possible shooting.
Deputies arrived on the scene and learned that the victim, 20-year-old Shawn Brown, of Marion, had confronted Taylor when Brown saw Taylor trying to break into his girlfriend’s car.
Taylor brandished a gun and fired a shot at the victim then fled the scene.
The suspect was located a short time later in the area and was taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that the weapon was a flare gun. No one was injured.
Officers with Marion Police Department aided in the search for Taylor.
